As the Portuguese clubs progress in the UEFA competitions, Jetlantic is proud to be associated with this participation. In the forthcoming round of Champions League and Europa League, Jetlantic will be operating charter flights carrying supporters of the participating Portuguese teams to the away fixtures.

The first two programmed rotations are flights carrying FC Porto supporters to Manchester for the clash with Manchester City, and SL Benfica fans to St.Petersburg for their team's match against Zenit. Futher operations are likely to occur for the Sporting and Braga fixtures.

Porto Santo

Posted by António Santa Clara on 02/04/2012

Jetlantic has embraced a new challenge with a large expansion of international and domestic operations from Porto Santo. A recently purchased Airbus A319 will be based in the island, significantly contributing to the development of the island's niche holiday market.

From Porto Santo, Jetlantic will now operate weekly frequencies to London Gatwick, Newcastle (via Birmingham), Paris-Orly, Lyon (via Toulouse), Amsterdam, Zurich, Rome, Moscow, Stockholm (via Gothenburg), Berlin (via Stuttgart), Warsaw, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Ponta Delgada.

CS-TYM "Zimbralinho", which sports a special Porto Santo tourism logo, is also the first IAE-powered Airbus A319 in Jetlantic's fleet.

Super 27

Posted by António Santa Clara on 01/25/2012

Jetlantic has just purchased two Boeing 727-200 aircraft in the "Super 27" conversion. One of them (CS-TVD "Ginjas") will be based in St. Maarten, serving short / medium-haul destinations in the Caribbean and United States through regular flights. Current destinations served include Boston, Baltimore, Caracas, Nassau, Punta Cana, Havana, Aruba, Curaçao and Kingston.

The other aircraft (CS-TUO "Rosário") is a freighter which will be based in Lisbon, flying daily connections to Madeira, as well as frequencies to Ponta Delgada, Santa Maria and Clermont-Ferrand.

The "Super 27" is the most modern version of the 727, retrofitted with JTD8D-17C engines and a hushkit which makes it compliant with Stage 3 noise regulations. The Super 27 also features winglets which optimize fuel consumption while increasing range and payload, making it able to cope with demands of modern day commercial aviation.

Entrance Exams

Posted by António Santa Clara on 12/12/2011

Jetlantic has completed another milestone in the ongoing upgrade of its site and content management systems. We are happy to announce the completion of a long-awaited objective, with the installation of a platform for written exams on Jetlantic's website.

A big improvement from previous externally-hosted solutions, this exam module means that - with immediate effect - all new candidates wishing to become Jetlantic pilots will now undertake a theoretical exam directly on the company's website at the time of application.

The exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions pulled randomly from a database, with a time limit of 20 minutes and a minimum pass mark of 75%. Only by meeting this mark will new candidates be assigned a pilot number and allowed to proceed with their registration. Final validation as a Jetlantic pilot will continue to depend on practical assessment, with candidates required to complete a flight with a minimum score of 75% by the Daedalus system within 7 days of joining.

A big thank you to David Clark of Simpilotgroup for this addon, another of his many excellent creations raising the bar for virtual airlines and their pilots.

BBJ and iFly Fleet

Posted by António Santa Clara on 10/18/2011

Jetlantic has just reinforced its executive fleet with the purchase of a Boeing Business Jet. The BBJ is the executive version of the Boeing 737-700 and seats 43 passengers. Capable of carrying nearly 32 tonnes of fuel, the BBJ has an impressive range of nearly 5500 nautical miles. The aircraft, CS-DJY, is based on the iFly model and will - like the rest of Jetlantic's executive fleet - be based at Cannes-Mandelieu airport.

As of today, the entire Boeing 737 NG fleet of Jetlantic is available in both PMDG and iFly variants for FS9, with the logojet CS-TVA and the retrojet CS-TWA having been completed.

Channel Islands

Posted by António Santa Clara on 10/07/2011

Jetlantic has just opened a new base in the UK, with an aircraft based at Jersey airport. The aircraft in question is a Fokker 70, registration CS-TUN, capable of carrying 79 passengers. This aircraft will split operations between Jersey and Guernsey airports, connecting the islands to a series of popular holiday destinations across Europe and the British Isles. Besides this, it will also serve the vast expat community of Madeira in the Islands with a direct flight from Guernsey to Funchal, adding to the weekly Jersey service Jetlantic operates since its foundation.

This level of service is achieved through the splendid characteristics of the Fokker 70, including extra fuel tanks which enable it to operate with a significant range out of airfields limited in runway length, such as Guernsey.

Destinations served from Jersey include Palma, Ibiza, Mahon, Alicante, Faro, Nice, Marseille, Venice, Chambéry, Innsbruck, Monastir, Geneva, Sion, Venice and Cork.

Flights from Guernsey will serve Palma, Ibiza, Faro, Madeira, Nice and Cork.

New Madeira routes

Posted by António Santa Clara on 10/01/2011

Jetlantic has just launched two new significant European routes out of Madeira. As of this week, scheduled flights will now connect Funchal to Zurich and Leeds.

Flights 3468 and 3469 will connect Madeira to Zurich on Wednesday mornings, bringing significant value to the company's network and an excellent choice for passengers travelling to the largest city in Switzerland.

Due to the capacity increase gained with the new UK operations, Jetlantic will now operate a scheduled flight to Leeds on Mondays, thus reinforcing the dedication to one of Madeira's most significant tourist markets.

New base in Liverpool

Posted by António Santa Clara on 09/27/2011

Jetlantic has just opened a new UK base of operations in Liverpool. The company's previous UK charter operation in Bournemouth has been closed, with both aircraft that had been based there now moved to Liverpool. The two Boeing 737-300s have also been updated with the company's latest colour scheme.

Destinations served include several portuguese airports such as Faro, Madeira, Porto Santo and Horta. Across Europe and the Mediterranean, other destinations include Innsbruck, Palma, Ibiza, Corfu, Antalya, Nice, Malta and Samos among others.

Captain António Bettencourt, currently in Liverpool conducting interviews for new cabin crew members, told the press that "the new base is certainly a step forward for the company, carrying the lessons learned from the Bournemouth operation to a market with enormous potential".
